In response to a growing need for sophisticated investment solutions at a lower cost structure
What OCIO was: Traditional Outsourced Chief Investment Officers
“Outsourced chief investment officer” or “OCIO” refers to outsourcing all or part of an institution’s discretionary investment functions. The degree of service typically depends on the institution’s needs. OCIO services may include investment policy creation, portfolio construction, asset allocation, due diligence, and ongoing monitoring. More detailed offerings may be provided in portfolio implementation, rebalancing, and risk management. All-in-all, the OCIO provider fills a role equivalent to that of an in-house Chief Investment Officer and investment office staff and checks a box for the institution’s investment process.
What OCIO is now: Verdence/OCIO
Already expected to wear multiple hats, growing RIAs, single and multi-family offices, and institutions that face numerous compliance issues and increasingly sophisticated client needs must also rise to the challenge of meeting higher and higher expectations. In other words, advisors are expected to spend more and more time on activities far beyond their core advisory role, but many lack the required time and resources. By building upon the traditional principles of OCIO, we provide you with additional expert resources for improving your business. Verdence/OCIO is an advantage for those who want to mitigate oversight while achieving excellence in operating their advisory and enriching their client relationships.

Often, an institution or RIA lacks sufficient resources or research expertise to manage complex investment solutions and research while maintaining a high-touch, exceptional client experience.
You’re independent because you understand what being tied to a wirehouse’s high-fee and self-serving investment products means to you and, most importantly, to your client. You have an entrepreneurial spirit and a fiduciary commitment. You’ve envisioned the necessary steps, and you understand the value of assembling an exceptional support team. While you could choose to build out your organization with in-depth resources, platforms, and technology, you realize it takes significant time, capital investment, and patience—which places strain on your business’s growth and service excellence.
You now have a pivotal opportunity: To plug into the power of a comprehensive research platform, model delivery, marketing, and team of subject matter experts, so you can spend more time focused on building your business and serving your clients.
